My photographic practice focuses on observation, creating spontaneous glimpses of the world and trying to see and understand the familiar and everyday in new ways though photography. Observational photography has a lot in common with street photography and documentary photography but I focus less on movements, actions and events and more on the traces of interactions between people and the environment that are left behind. I use primarily vintage cameras with a passion for consumer cameras and accessible photographic materials. With cameras from 1930-1990 and contemporary toy cameras, especially those that were created as inexpensive consumer cameras for everyday use, I use both 35mm and medium format film to then create digital images.
